Skydiving in Connecticut, United States

The Connecticut Parachutists Skydiving club was established in 1962 and moved to the Ellington Airport in 1970. We are one of the oldest existing sky diving clubs in the country. For over 50 years we have promoted the sport of Skydiving to thousands of people world wide. We have been on the forefront of many of the modern training techniques as they have been developed over the years. CPI is known as the "Home of Champions," where skydivers come to learn and explore the possibilities they can achieve within our sport. You don't have to be a champion to jump here... But you just might become one if you do! The Hartford Times - February 1962 Twenty-five parachute jumping enthusiasts have organized a club to promote competition, and safety, in their sport in Connecticut, as a means of continuing to enjoy it. The first meeting of Connecticut Parachutists was held Feb. 15. Robert MacMillan was elected president. He has been jumping since 1927, has made over 1,200 jumps, and has had over 3,000 hours as a commercial pilot. He is a master rigger and is credited with making many changes and improvements in parachute design.
